Do you like a Terrys chocolate orange? A Millie’s cookie? These may become your new most favourite thing in the entire world! My kids are super deprived, they have never had a chocolate orange before and Poppy keeps seeing them in shops. She said that it is the only she wants for Christmas. Easily satisfied and a cheap festive period in this house! I digress, my cookie are the bees knees even if I do say so myself,  soft with crunchy nuts and chunks of choc. What’s not to love. Super festive with choc nuts and orange! Give them a go you will never look back again!!

125g dark chocolate

150g plain flour

30g  cocoa

Tsp bicarbonate of soda

1/2 teaspoon salt

125g unsalted butter room temp

75g light brown sugar

50g caster sugar

1 teaspoon of vanilla extract

1 egg

350g choc pieces

1 orange zest and

1 teaspoon orange extract

75g roasted hazelnuts

Preheat oven to 170 degrees centigrade

melt the 125g butter and 125g chocolate together. I usually do this in a bowl in the microwave, if you are doing it this way put it on high for 1 minute and then check every 5 to see if melted.

Place all other ingredients in your stand mixer or large bowl and add the melted chocolate and butter mixture slowly with a large spatular.

Once a sort of dough texture has been formed, use your hands to divide into equal balls. Depending on size of cookie you are after – for a largish size I would go for cadburys creme egg size!

Place them on parchment paper with enough room in between to spread out and rise a bit.

Bake for 10 mins and then check, it never usually takes more than 14 mins. You will just be able to tell when they are cooked, they tend to spread out and have some cracks. You don’t want to overcook or burn the chocolate chunks.

They freeze really well but also get eaten VERY quickly!
