I mean you either love them or hate ‘em. I am fussy about whose I eat and I don’t usually like shop bought! Mince pies are definitely a hit in my house but Pops will only eat them with my magic ingredient – chocolate, I mean it’s the key to life really isn’t it?!!! There will be those that say gross and fair enough but it’s just what we do in our house and it’s jolly tasty too! They couldn’t be easier to make either!
For the pastry
340g flour
170g
1 egg
1 jar mincemeat
100g plain chocolate
1/2 teaspoon orange extract
Preheat the oven to 200 degrees centigrade
To make the pastry combine all ingredients in mixer and mix until a dough is formed.
Wrap up and put it in the fridge for half an hour
Once chilled roll out the pastry to about half a centimetre
Cut out with your pastry cutter and place in baking tin. With the excess pastry use a little cutter of a different shape for the top!
Melt the choc add then add the orange
Place a teaspoon full
at the bottom of each one
Place a tablespoon of mincemeat – I use deep pie case tin, you may only need a teaspoon if shallower.
Place the top on each and put in the oven for 12 mins
Eat cold as the chocolate hardens
