What is it with bananas in my house? If I buy them nobody eats them and they go brown and if I don’t buy them everybody wants them. I can’t seem to get it right. I hate throwing ‘em out when they go brown but not sure what else to do other than make cake. I am not a huge narna fan but I do love banana loaf!

This tastes amazing when it’s just come out of the oven – a bit like a dessert but also the next day when all the little choco chips have gone solid inside.

My kids like making this and you can whip it up in minutes

140g butter

140g caster sugar

2 large eggs, beaten

140g self-raising flour

1 tsp baking powder

3 very ripe bananas

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

100g plain chocolate chips

100g plain chocolate, melted to pour on top of cooked cake

Preheat oven to 180 degrees centigrade.

Mix all ingredients together (apart from the melted chocolate) in a big bowl then use a mixer or beat my hand until you have a nice cake batter.

Pour into a cake tin lined with making parchment.

Cook for  around 35 – 40 mins.

Wait into the cake has cooled and then pour over the melted chocolate. Leave to set. You can decorate with banana chips if you wish
