I love the combination of chocolate and pears, but don’t know why they go so well as they do. Pears have such a delicate flavour whereas choc is much more in your face. The great thing about this recipe is that it’s mainly made up of store cupboard ingredients that you will probably already have in. Or use the unripened pears in your fruit bowl that sit there for weeks and still are like bullets you could kill someone with.
Squishy and chocolatey – Whip this up as a quick autumnal dessert after your Sunday roast or midweek supper and I am pretty sure it will become a firm favourite in your house…
200g butter
300g sugar
75g cocoa powder
1 can of pears
50g of flaked almonds
75g plain flour
150g dark chocolate chunks (bash up a chocolate bar)
4 eggs
Preheat oven to 190 degrees centigrade
Grease an oven proof dish around 20cm x 30cm
Place all ingredients in a mixer except the pears and almonds
Beat well for about 1 minute
Pour into the greased Tim and the place the pear halves in it and scatter almonds on top.
Place in the oven for 30 mins you want it a little over than under like a brownie or it will go a bit rubbery!
Serve hot!
